THE TALLEST BASKETBALL PLAYER IN THE WORLD CAN GRAB THE RIM WITHOUT JUMPING
Paul "Tiny" Sturgess; yes, Tiny, plays for the Harlem Globetrotters and is a staggering 7 feet 8 inches tall.
He’s not just the tallest Globetrotter, but he’s the tallest Globetrotter in history.

For comparison, Yao Ming is only 7 feet 6 inches tall. Manute Bol and Gheorghe Mureșan, the tallest players in NBA history, are 7 feet 7 inches tall.

In 2011, Guinness World Records officially recognized Sturgess as the world’s tallest professional basketball player (though Sun Mingming of China stands at 7 feet 9 inches tall, playing for the Beijing Ducks in the Chinese Basketball Association, yet he was overlooked by Guinness World Records). His signature move is the no-jump dunk and his jersey number is 55. He weighs 325 pounds!

Tiny is from Loughborough, England and went to Mountain State University. He grew an entire foot between his 16th and 17th birthday and while his dad is tall at 6 feet 8 inches, his mom and sister are only 5 foot 5 inches and 5 foot 6 inches respectively.

He grew up playing soccer and golf, but since his high school didn't offer golf as a sport, the basketball coach invited him to try out for his team and Tiny has played ever since.
