Ealanta 'World Whisky Of The Year'

Glenmorangie 's Ealanta - a single malt that was hidden away for nearly 20 years - was named the best whiskey of the year by the renowned whiskey expert Jim Murray .

According to Scot , Murray , author of the Whisky Bible , an annual guide that ranks more than 4,500 whiskey , described the Scottish single malt distillery as " borderline being perfect . "

" Is not it just blow one away along with the reliability , beauty and beauty , but it gave the aroma and flavor profile completely new to me in over 30 years of tasting whiskey , " Murray told the news outlet .

Ealanta , with a score of 97.5 out of a possible 100 , earned the title of " World Whisky of the Year " in 2014 edition of the Whisky Bible .

" Glenmorangie Ealanta pipped others to post it because it went out and did something different, " says Murray .

Introduced at the beginning of 2013 as the fourth annual release in Glenmorangie 's Private Edition range , the Ealanta , which retails for about $ 120, was born out of an experiment conducted at the winery nearly two decades ago .

Dr. Bill Lumsden , director of distilling and whiskey creation for Glenmorangie 's , said the Scot 's single malt is placed in virgin white oak casks before hidden from prying eyes .

" I kept the barrels in a corner of a warehouse 19 years ago so the whiskey is not used to a mixture . I first opened [ them ] three or four years ago and realized I 'd create something different , " he said .

So far , it seems that whiskey lover will be thrilled with how this turned out Ealanta , although some have complained about the $ 120 price tag .

" An amazingly delicious whiskey , the Ealanta is not the most complex in regard to taste can be discovered , but it is quite Moorish , " wrote Bradis , a member of the Whisky Connosr review site .

Blog love NY called the Whisky single malt an " intriguing light whiskey " with an " accessible " taste . However , added the blog that booze is a bit " pricey to be an everyday dram. "
