Colonel cry is revered among Internet cat obsessives for its perpetually smug scowl, and now he has more reason to sneer at his adoring public.
Guinness World Records has officially recognized the two-year-old Himalayan-Persian cat mixed with the longest feather.
To get the hair to increase the honor, three independent vets meticulously measured every 10 strands of kitty fur and come up with an average length submitted to Guinness.
When the fur is done flying around, experts said average length of hair Colonel Meow is a whopping nine inches.
As you might expect, most of the record-setting Colonel mew fur ends up on the floor, furniture and his owner Anne Marie Avey and Eric Rosario.
"Literally everything in the house with hair in it, including us!" Avey said, according to Guinness World Records. "I feel like I'm always vacuuming!"
The Guinness honor for cats meow meow Colonel, which has become a internet sensation with the launch of its own website, Facebook page and a YouTube channel that has racked up more than 2,000,000 views.
Colonel cry was featured in the Guinness World Records 2014 Edition, which will hit stores September 14.
Craig Glenday, editor of the book, Colonel expects the star to rise even more as a result.
"Colonel cry was groomed for stardom, and I know the furry feline will be a big hit with the audience," he said. "He was an incredible man, and he'll undoubtedly inspire people all around the world to whip their heads and start measuring their own fur of cats."
