History has had its fair share of evil women. Lavinia Fisher, born around 1793, is usually recognized as America’s first mass murderer.
She and her husband ran a hotel near Charleston, South Carolina.
Tired travellers who came to that hotel were guaranteed to rest... in peace. Fisher and her husband would first kill the guests and then rob them.
Reports of missing guests reached the local sheriff’s department, but were dismissed due to a lack of evidence, and Fisher was left to continue her killing spree. Finally in 1820, both her and her husband were hanged for their crimes.
